Tracey Roxburgh | Bureau Chief M 027 532 6758 Hailing from the land of the rolling R, wide streets, old buildings and gloomy winters - Invercargill that is, not Dunedin - Tracey spent almost four years "working" before studying journalism at the Southern Institute of Technology in 2003. After completing two years of intensive learnings in radio and print journalism, Tracey began her career working as a daily journalist at the Southland Times in Invercargill. Covering everything from Air Force training missions to Southland District Council meetings and the arts, Tracey gained a reputation as a person willing to make a fool of herself in the name of a good story - proven by her 2005-06 attempt at training for the 11.5km Surf to City "Fun Run" - which was not fun and ultimately she did not run due to a well-timed spider bite. However, the bright lights of Queenstown and promises of fun galore started calling and in July 2006 Tracey jumped ship and joined the Otago Daily Times as one of its "serious" Queenstown-based reporters. With only another 18 years before she can call herself a Queenstown "local", Tracey is loving life in the resort and immersing herself in its culture, particularly that of cafes and bars.
James Beech | Journalist M 027 657 7686 James has swapped the West Coast for Otago, joining the growing Otago Daily Times Queenstown bureau, after working as the senior of two reporters at the Hokitika Guardian for more than two years. Mr Beech, originally from England, worked in film, music and DVD-related consumer magazines for about five years after graduating from Bournemouth University with a BA (Hons) in Multi-Media Journalism. He also worked in home entertainment public relations in London and has travelled around the world.
